K K Kale.......it's the new chocolate

They say chocolate is good for your health but not as much as kale.....
Move over Popeye and make room for the "queen of greens," kale. Gaining in popularity, kale is an amazing vegetable being recognized for its exceptional nutrient richness, health benefits, and delicious flavour.
Eating a variety of natural, unprocessed vegetables can do wonders for your health, but choosing super-nutritious kale on a regular basis may provide significant health benefits, including cancer protection, PROMOTING EYE HEALTH and lowered cholesterol.

Yorkshire Cancer Research Dinner

Raymond D White had a great evening at a dinner for Yorkshire Cancer Research http://yorkshirecancerresearch.org.uk/  last night. The event was the culmination of a weekend long programme of events centered around Pro Am Tennis. Great champions like Pat Cash took part in exhibition matches, coaching and were guests at the dinner. All sponsored by Jet2.com http://www.jet2.com/
Through Eyewear Opticians, Raymond had donated 3 pairs of designer glasses for the Gift Tree raffle and looks forward to meeting the winning recipient soon.

It's all in the smile

Here's a much better picture of Ray receiving his Optician of the Year Award from Brian Nuttney, Deputy Editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post.
We're really touched by how many people have sent congratulations cards, good wishes and generally shared the joy of Ray winning Optician of the Year 2013 in the Yorkshire Evening Post Best of Health Awards.
Many thanks to fellow nominee James Daly for graciously delivering a card and bottle of champers to Ray, a very nice gesture.

Yorkshire Evening Post Best of Health Awards

WOW! We are absolutely thrilled that Raymond D White won Optician of the Year 2013 at the Yorkshire Evening Post Best of Health Awards yesterday. Ray along with his team - the wonderful Joan who helps organise all his domiciliary work, and the equally wonderful Sharon who ensures Eyewear Opticians runs smoothly, attended the Awards Lunch at the Hilton Leeds. It was a truly humbling event with some fabulous nominees in all the categories. Nurses, carers, doctors, dentists, pharmacists and opticians, all people we tend to take for granted in our health care today.

Later this month, the College of Optometrists will be launching a major publicity campaign to raise awareness of a link between problems with sight and falls among those aged over 65, and to increase the uptake of free sight tests among this group.

Statistics released by Age UK show that every year up to a third of people aged over 65 suffer a fall, and that falls are a major cause of injury and deaths among the over 70s - accounting for more than 50% of hospital admissions for accidental injury.

Early starts.......and Elton makes a specatacle of himself

Raymond White was on his way early today for a day in Manchester with the College of Optometry. Raymond is an Examiner for the College and as such has to regularly attend meetings.
Anyway, here's a story to make your eyes water.....with laughter.
